Last week was the first and last spring break for me as a student, my sole trip to Seattle and Bellevue was amazing. The Pike Market Chowder, soft wind from the Pacific Ocean, the musical city with numerous art galleries, a cup of Italian coffee from the first Starbucks, and last but not the least, magnificent buildings and big company’s headquarters, all of these make Seattle a city of wonders. At least, till now, Seattle has become my ideal city to live and work. Lol, if possible, one day, I should open a journalism blog to share my tons of sole trips journals.
Here is one of my favorite videos about AI:
Back to our topic, AI, as an emerging technology, recently gets popular and discussed again. February and March are the months for annual reports, and some agencies also published their research reports on the most promising companies in 2018. By googling it, you can find dozens of versions of the list, and among most of them, you can see AI and data-based companies are the main part. Furthermore, today BCG (Boston Consulting Group) posted an article on social media: “Is your company ready for AI (Chinese Article)” which referring a collaborating research report conducted by BCG and MIT published on Sep 2017 — Reshaping Business With Artificial Intelligence.
In this report, BCG mentioned that most companies have realized the importance of employing AI to assist with their business and have a high expectation of this technology in the five years. However, in most industries, there are only one or two pioneer companies have applied this technology. Considering the commercial benefits, AI, generally, can bring an additional 20 percent of revenues for most industries.

So far, how to employ AI technology and hire AI-background professionals becomes a critical problem. Friends around me, with the limited educational background in AI are seeking opportunities to study systematically to be a Quant. Data science, information technology, business analytics and computing science, in the past five years and in the foreseeable future are the most popular majors in universities. The high demand for machine learning and AI talents will lead to, potentially, a rapid development of the subject. Currently, Facebook, Google, Alibaba, Tencent and many other companies have established their AI research centers, mainly in Seattle.
In the next a few posts, I will focus on A.I technology and how it affects business. Considering the situation that I am actively seeking jobs and preparing for my final report of the master’s program, I might have trouble updating posts regularly, and I am sincerely sorry for that and appreciate your continued support, passions and attention.
